Most of the attribute information is taken directly from the Water Utility Database. Several of the attributes have missing information. Texas has approximately 2000 Water Districts, of these, approximately 1774 are in the Water Districts layer. The districts were either input using metes & bounds, digitized from hard copy maps or digital data received from the district. The Water District data set is not complete. This layer is not 100% accurate. Control points for the metes & bounds are not always available, in such cases the district was located based on recognizable physical geographic features found on the hard copy map and TxDOT digital files. Water District boundaries are mapped from information provided by the District. Information for a given District is only as current as the most recent information provided by the District to TCEQ.
